The Crimean War

The Crimean War, also known in Russia as the Oriental War (Russian: Восточная война, Vostochnaya Voina) (October 1853–February 1856) was fought between the Russian Empire on one side and an alliance of France, the United Kingdom, the Kingdom of Sardinia, and the Ottoman Empire on the other. The war was part of a long-running contest between the major European powers for influence over territories of the declining Ottoman Empire. Most of the conflict took place on the Crimean Peninsula, with additional actions occurring in western Turkey and the Baltic Sea region.

The Crimean War is sometimes considered to be the first "modern" conflict and "introduced technical changes which affected the future course of warfare."

The 93rd SHROFLHU (USA)

A Non-Profit Historical and Educational Organization dedicated to the authentic portrayal of one of the most famous Scottish Highland Regiments in the 19th Century British Army.
If not for the Highland Regiments much of what we now call Scottish Traditions might have been lost forever.

Primary emphasis is on the 1812/Napoleonic era, extending into the Crimean War and Indian Mutiny of the 1850s. Participation at many events nationally includes the annual Battle of New Orleans at Chalmette National Historic Park, where a Wreath is laid and the names of the 93rd who fell at New Orleans are read aloud during a Memorial Ceremony begun by the 93rd SHROFLHU in 1989.
