Listing of "Other Axis" Reenacting Units

This page is for Axis units "other" than German. Sorry if we sound Germano-centric but outside of German reenactors, there aren't really very many other Axis units: Finns, Italians and the Japanese. I guess you would also fit Romanians. Bulgarians and others in here too. It's not like these soldiers did not fight in the war, they just aren't "glamorous" enough for people to reenact, so it seems :-( And... not to say there aren't some dedicated reenactors who do these impressions; Rob Haught's 9th Romanian is a great example of dedication... If you're just getting into the hobby, why not think about one of these groups?

To add your unit link, please go to our link-add page.

If you find a problem in this time/area or would like your unit listed please feel free to e-mail the WW2 T/A webmasters: Harry Coombs or Rob Haught.

I am a start-up unit in the Colorado Springs/Denver area, and am looking for anyone interested in participating as Imperial Japanese Army in starting up PTO in the Intermountian region. I have several sets of uniforms and equipment to lend out on a trial basis, and I have detailed sources in putting together your own impression. We have areas already set aside for events, and PTO allied reenactors to play with. I need interested bodies! If you are interested and have any questions, please contact me at 0@yahoo.com">rallyvincent_20Testudo0@yahoo.com.
The 43rd Division is a very informal group of reenactors located all up and down the
eastern seaboard, ranging from the New England states to as far south as North Carolina and every state in between. We primarily gather as a group annually for the "Battle for Saipan" reenactment held on a private farm near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania (traditionally the event is held in July). Our members are also encouraged to participate in local or regional tacticals and living history programs to promote
WWII Pacific Theatre reenacting! The unit has no dues and it is not necessary to be Japanese to join.

New recruits are required to purchase their own authentic uniform, gear, and weapon to participate. If you need help in this process please feel free to contact us (information provided below) and use our links to help assemble your impression...

Come relive history with us and have a great time doing it!
The JRA is a small but dedicated group of experienced reenactors dedicated to portraying the average soldier of the Imperial Japanese Army and Navy during 1941 to 1945.

The JRA does not limit itself to portraying just 1 specific unit, with our uniforms and equipment we can  portray troops fighting in the jungles of Burma and India to the sandy islands of the Pacific
The purpose of this organization is to serve as an educational and social society for Italian enthusiasts and history buffs.  Our concentration is on the Second World War and the role Italy and Italians played in it.  The group does not exist to disseminate nor tolerate any extremist ideologies.

The "M" Battalions were made up of MVSN soldiers from veteran Blackshirt Legions which had distinguished themselves.  Their collar insignia consisted of a black flame and fasces surrounded by an "M" in il Duce's handwriting.  They served as infantrymen in the same sense as the Royal Italian Army and on every front of the war.

When properly lead, the Italian soldier was as brave and tenacious as the Roman Legionaries whose footsteps he followed.  At its height, the Italian conquests included Albania, Greece, Yugoslavia, Northern Africa, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia, and parts of France.  The indefatigable Italian troops also served in Russia during Operation Barbarossa, which is our primary representation.

By taking to the field in recreated battles against the belligerents of World War Two, by hosting displays and interactive discussions, and by doing our utmost to represent the Italian soldier as accurately as possible, we will achieve those things.

All members are responsible for acquiring their own uniforms, arms, and equipment.  We operate in a not-for-profit fashion and are strictly volunteers, most of us based in the Mid-Atlantic area.  Familiarity with the Italian language is not required but encouraged.
The members of the 8th Shidan (Division) are composed of members from all over the east coast, east of the Mississippi. We reenact the infamous Imperial Japanese Army. We are also the first formal unit in our region.

Don't try, become apart of it today!
The 4th Bersaglieri is a non-profit, non-religious, non-political organization who's goal is to preserve the memory of the Italian soldier's involvement in WWII through reenactment and living history displays. Our focus of attention is in portraying the 4th Bersaglieri Division "Italia", of the late war Italian RSI. The Italian "Bersaglieri" (pronounced: Ber-sa-li-eri) were and still are a type of light infantry reconnaissance troop created in the 1890's. They were famed for their speed, mobility, and use of hit and run tactics. Our goal is to research and portray this agile warrior at WWII reenactments and living history displays. The Italian's involvement in WWII has been an under appreciated subject for 65 years.
Help me preserve the memory of these brave but forgotten soldiers.
4th Bersaglieri (Georgia, South East USA)
Welcome to the 4th Bersaglieri WWII reenactor's home page. We are a non-profit, non-religious, non-political organization who's goal is to preserve the memory of the Italian soldier's involvement in WWII through reenactment and living history displays. The Italian Bersaglieri ( pronounced: Ber-sa-li-eri ) are a type of light infantry reconnaissance troop originally created by General Alessandro La Marmora on 18 June 1836 to serve in the Piedmontese Army and are still in use today in Italy. They were known for their speed, mobility, and use of hit and run tactics. These "elite" troops fought on both sides after the 1943 armistice. We have chosen to portray the Axis aligned Bersaglieri of the late war RSI.
2010 WWII and Veterans Weekend (Midwest - Michigan)
The 3rd Annual WWII and Veterans Weekend in St. Clair Shores Michigan is quickly becoming the premiere event in the region. Directors Paul Palazzolo and Jose Evangelista are committed to making it the most enjoyable event reenactors will participate in. Visit website for complete details.
Ostlegionen (Mid Atlantic States)
Doing a foreign volunteer unit could be a better option for those who have some misgivings about donning a uniform with a swastika even if it's just for historical and educational purposes.  Most of the foreign volunteers who fought on the German side during the war were not necessarily Nazis nor did they all support the Nazi ideology.  Most simply wanted independence and freedom for their respective homelands and thus felt fighting on the German side would allow a better chance of that happening.  Everyone knew what was in store under the Communist yoke of Stalin’s Russia thus Nazi Germany offered the lesser of the two evils.  So in conclusion, you could portray a freedom loving God fearing patriot and still wear the cool looking German uniform (SS or Heer) and fight against a great evil known as Communism.
Ostlegionen (East Coast, Mid-Atlantic States)
Our group portrays the average foreign volunteer soldier in a combat setting, which can be applied to a number of various scenarios.  We tailor our uniforms, equipment, and tactics to whatever unit we are portraying.

4th Bersaglieri (South East (GA))
Welcome to the 4th Bersaglieri WWII reenactor's home page. We have chosen to portray the Axis aligned pre-armistice 4th Bersaglieri Regiment who fought in Africa, Greece and Russia as well as the 4th Bersaglieri Division "Italia" and the 1st Vol Reg; 2nd Bat "Mameli" of the late war RSI. We are currently a "progressive" unit and do more living histories and school programs than tacticals, but will strive to become more "hardcore" as well as attend more battles as soon as time and membership will allow.
Imperial Japanese Reenactment Forum (MidAtlantic, World Wide)
For serious reenactors interested in the historical research, and accurately portraying and reenacting the Imperial Japanese Forces of any era.
We represent the Finnish Arm from the Winter War through the Lapland War. We are "headquarter" in northwest Georgia if you are interested please visit our website, check the calendar and see if we are having an event near you. We also accept women reenactors into the Lotta Svärd (woman's auxiliary).
Sato Shoutai is an informal unit that is currently taking shape on the East Coast, USA. Members primarily focus on the impression of an AVERAGE Imperial Japanese Infantry of the Second World War. The unit maintains a strict authenticity standards in order to best educate the interested. The unit also does not portray any specific Japanese unit. The reasons are there are no specific unit insignias that tells each unit apart aside from the branch insignias, and we can achieve more flexibility as a small unit to portray any real unit we see fit for any specific scenario. We can cooperate with different units effectively without jeopardizing the coherent structure. Therefore, we also do not enforce a strict rank system. Our members have specific uniforms to and equipment to portray the authentic Infantrymen, the infamous KempeiTai, and Aircraft Ground Crew.
Our impression also DOES NOT only focus on the PTO of the south eastern Pacific. We present the Japanese Army as a whole from PTO to CBI to Alaska campaigns. No parts of history should be forgotten.
Members are mostly based in Virginia, Maryland and various surrounding States, they are knowledgeable reenactors, collectors, and historians.
The 4th Field Hospital, 8th Company is a World War II Historical Reenacting unit. Our members portray the Japanese Red Cross Nurses and associated Medics. Our goal is to promote awareness and understanding on the part of the public. These elements being the world history from 1937-1945; specifically the military history of WWII, through the staging of public educational exhibitions, lectures, displays and reenactments of typical battles fought between the Allied and Axis forces in WWII.
We are a small unit based in PA, DEL, & MD. Our primary impression is Imperial Japanese Army Reenacting. If you live in our area, and you've always wanted to reenact the Japanese Army, now is your chance!

Isiu Island Provisional Infantry -- The Isiu Island is located in the Northern Kurile chain which is, to this day, still disputed territory between Japan and Russia. Natives of the island exhibit physical attributes commonly found in the Eastern Russo-Mongol people as well as the Japanese, which explains their unusual size. Many historical accounts have been written by American Soldiers during the Aleutian Island campaigns, giving mention to the enemy infantry units occupying the northern islands. The average reported physical size of an Isiu Islander was far larger than any typical Japanese soldier, baffling the American troops. The Japanese, on the other hand, saw their Isiu neighbors as a possible threat on account of their disputed position with the then-Soviet Union, sworn enemy of the Empire. As a multi-purpose solution to this dilemma, the islanders were conscripted into fighting for the Imperial Japanese Army, creating both a military barrier against the Northern Allied Forces, along with keeping the islanders themselves out of the core of the Empire, lest they be used as a way to gain an allied foothold into Tokyo.

Our unit, the Isiu Island Provisional Infantry, is a fictional one, representing the conscripted soldiers of the northern islands. For further information, please feel free to contact us and thank you for your interest...

5th Division Imperial Japanese Army (Singapore) -- Syonan Reflections was formed in 2002 by Alvin Lee Jun Ming along with several other fellow plastic modelers who wanted more than just making dioramas. The group modeled itself on the 5th Infantry Division of the Imperial Japanese Army. We chose this unit as it, together with the 18th Infantry Division set its first troops on Singapore soil on 8th February 1942 when they attacked the beaches of Sarimbun.

The group's objective is the authentic and accurate portrayal of soldiers of the Second World War, in particular German and Japanese. We also aim to further educate Singaporeans on the 3 years and 8 months endured by our grandparents when Singapore was renamed Syonan-To (Light of the south) during the Japanese occupation by bringing history to life!

IJA -- WWII Imperial Japanese Army Reenactors -- A group for those interested to seriously discuss Imperial Japanese Army militaria, tactics, and customs for the WWII era. (Please no reference to Japanese as "Japs" or "Nips." World War II ended over 55 years ago. We would like to take an educational, respectful, and objective look at this former adversary.)
