This was emailed to me from Sue and I am passing it on to everyone :

This July 4th marks the 231st anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. For the last seven years, Ringwood Manor has marked the event with a reenactment and celebration featuring a reading of the document as well as militia musters and activities for the public. The event is very well publicized and attendance each year continues to grow. On behalf of Ringwood Manor and Ringwood State Park, would like to invite all Rev . War re-enactors. A tentative schedule of events for this year’s reading is attached on the following page. This schedule is dependent on the number of reenactors and participants that are able to commit to the day. Obviously, we cannot have the Declaration delivered by horseback without a cavalry member, cannot fire a cannon if there is none, cannot have a public debate without reenactors from both sides of the issue, cannot have crafts and suttlers without craftspeople. Without the help of dedicated reenactors, this event would not be as wonderful as it is. Anyone who would like to participate in an activity or demonstration not listed should feel free to contact me with their suggestions. And, as always, anyone who is looking to volunteer that day but does not want to take part specifically in the reenactment is welcome. We need people to help with the colonial games, distribute free watermelon to the public, and help set-up for the event. All participants will be listed in the program, so this is a great way to get free publicity and meet new people!

In order to have the event run smoothly, I would like to know how many volunteers and reenactors are planning on participating ahead of time. Please take some time out of your schedule to volunteer. I am requesting that those people who wish to participate please contact me by as soon as possible with their name(s) and how they would like to contribute to the event. If anyone has questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thanks so much for your help and consideration!

    Sincerely,
    Sue Shutte
