Vintage picture question
«

When I receive my soldbuch, how do you go about getting a vitage picture taken for it? There's a photographer here in my town, but I'm wary of walking-in with my uniform on and scaring all the Mexicans, then getting shot. Any ideas?

Wait till the next event that you know a photographer (prefer in same unit or other WWII unit) that is willing to do it (maybe for a small fee) is there. Most that do a period photographer use period camera's. That's how I got mine (in same unit) but now have to get a new one.

You can do normal photos and then work them on Photoshop.
For example, here is a my photo in original version:

Here another photo to my historical group, that I've reworked in Photoshop:

I got Photoshop. That's a pretty good idea and a lot cheaper I'm thinking than having somebody charge me $40 for a single vintage photo. I appreciate both of your input!

That's how I did mine too, then I printed it out on photo quality paper. The tough part was getting it to be the right size. The original's differed from size to size and how the soldat was posed, but there are some general guide lines to consider. Take a look here for some ideas:

Yeah, forgot about that one! I have Gimp instead of Photoshop so might have to figure out how to do that.
