Non-Military Aspects of Living History

Loved Reenactorfest 2 and wish we could have made the first! However, it occurred to several members of our wic that not nearly enough attention was paid to non-military pursuits. Panels on cooking, on tents, on furniture and so forth would have been greatly appreciated, at least by members of our group. We wrote about this, and I know at least two people volunteered to help with classes or panels. I hope that the exclusion of these topics was predicated more on a lack of volunteers than any other reason!
Cheers, Folo

Volunteers make the seminars and performances what they are, so if we don't have a person raise their hand and say "hey! I'd like to talk about X" then it just doesn't happen. We seek out as many varied topics as we can, but it's in the hands of the attendees more than anything. So with THAT as an into I am happy to announce that Renee Petersen (of MacGregor Games fame) is going to do a seminar on authentic camp cooking at RF4 in Chicago! This should be a very interesting talk, and I encourage folks who want to speak on other non-military subjects to contact me. Make pies, not war!

HI ho, there non-military folks! Yer friendly camp cook here.
Yep, finally figured out how this thing works. I am the person planning the cold kitchen demo. 45 mn packed with info about setting it up with teachers/instructors and then possibly topics of discussion, a few activites and a shortened version of my demo. It's about food, 1630ish Scottish Highlands. Basic stuff, but since most of us are protraying common folks, I thought this might be a good idea.
If you 'd like to learn more about the super cool, neat-o keen great group I have the priviledge to work with, go to clanntartan.org As you go through the photos, I'm the woman with a butter churn attached to a little girl having the time of her life making butter. It was at the Iowa Ren fair in the Amana Colonies about 5 years ago. It was stupid hot out. THe butter didn't work out so well in that heat. A good time was had by all.
Peace
Renee
