    A Death in the Family:  Death & Mourning Practices in the 19th CenturySunday, 28 October Noon–5:00 p.m.

    The afternoon's program includes:
    • Death during the Civil War era, including women's mourning practices
    • Exhibit of 19th century mourning clothes
    • Exhibit of hair-work mourning jewelry
    • Exhibit of photos of cemetery art/symbolism
    • Lecture on Manuel Lisa, early St. Louis explorer and fur trader
    • Lecture on cemetery/genealogy research
    • Tarot card readings and silhouettes
