Looking for a unit in the MidAtlantic Region
«

Hello,
I am just finishing up my first Season of Civil War Reenacting, and am looking forward to a new job and a new season. Beyond that, I have an intense interest in WWII reenacting and would like to start expanding into that.
I don't know how WWII reenacting lingo is, but in the Civil War I am "Hardcore", I sleep outside, carry one shelter tent, rarely sleep in a tent (only when I can pard up with someone else). I eat authentic rations and carry only what fits on my back and what I can carry on a 20 mile march. My kit is of good quality but can be better and I am improving it.
Basically, in a WWII unit, I am looking for people who approach WWII as I approach the Civil War.
I am willing to do either US or German (I would prefer German), but infantry only (no Paratroopers, SS, or any specialized units).
If anyone knows of such a unit, your help would be appreciated.
Regards,
Evan
ps I am 16

Evan,
I think the age might be an issue. Some units require you to be 18 to join and the ones who do allow age 16 are either in a non-weapon carrying role or require a legal guardian. However, there are still units who are what you are looking for out there. Also just do not limit to the idea of US or German but look at the other impressions out there.

Hello,
Where are you from? Our squad does take 16 years olds. If you can drive and hunt here in PA you can be a reenactor.
Being a CW reenactor and wanting to be a WW 2 reenactor too can be a problem for you. It is very ,very hard to serve 2 masters. Trust me , been there and done that as too many others in our unit and others too right here on this page. You will be forced to make a choice sooner or later. If you started CW only a few years ago best stay their for awhile. A shame your way too young to remember the good Anniversary battles 130th and 135th, "the high points" of CW reenacting. Thoses days will never come again. Sorry to say but CW is a shadow of itself for when us "oldtimers "fought on Culp's Hill and Cold Harbor. Glory Days.

I'm from Wheaton MD, just north of the Beltway, I'm up for my license in 20 days.
CW reenacting shouldn't be a conflict, I don't have to choose one event or the other for the month, I do CW every weekend (seriously, I do). If I can't find an event to do me and my pards go out and tour a battlefield - my main issue would be getting a kit together.

Well the location helps a bit. There are several Heer units in the Mid-Atlantic. Some have dues and some don't require yearly due's. Take a look at these links to see some of them then go to
http://www.reenactor.net/main_htmls/ww2.html
. Going to be updated but I haven't received the program yet from the Admin.
