Title: Greetings
Post by: Van Schoonhoven on October 17, 2007, 02:27:59 AM
Just joined today.  Great site.  I am glad I found it.

My current area of interest is English Civil War, Royalist.  I started in 2004 and have attend a few events.  I've been doing lots of research on the time period and a great deal of sewing!

Hope to start 18th century, my first love, soon.  ;D

I'm not sure.  I'll have to check into this.

I checked out your photos.  Nice black ensamble.  Also, saw the new photos of St. Mary's City.  I went last year.  That was my first 17th c. event.  I won first place for working class women (I guess everyone else had already won in the past if I was it!!) and my friend and I won first place in the cooking competition.  Her group won first place this year.  She's got a streak going!  I wouldv'e gone this year but it conflicted with Mississinewa 1812.  I guess that happens when you time hop.  My husband won out this year in choosing which event, something about firing cannons.....Anyway, hope to cross paths at some event soon  8)

Thank you for the welcome everyone.

And thanks for checking out the photos.  Always glad to share.  I think at the next event I will play the roll of noisy reporter/archivist and get much closer and more specific.

Oh, my ensamble isn't black, that is too rich for my station,  ;).  Navy waistcoat and green skirt.  Maybe I should lighten the picture a bit.
