Membership in the 17. LwFD begins with filling out the Info Packet form by clicking HERE--once we have looked it over, we will contact you and send you a hard copy application to fill out and send back. This, along with your dues of $25. and a $20. membership fee will be sent back to us--we will then send you your membership packet.
Membership is restricted to those over the age of 16--for living history type events only, for most combat events, you need to be 18.
Also, (and I really gotta state this more emphatically) we are located on the East Coast and in fact, it would be best if you lived in the Mid-Atlantic area (Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia or Maryland) (of course, you may join living elsewhere, but it will be pretty hard for you to attend events--Southwest Airlines, I guess, $99. or so, one way service).
While women are allowed to be members of the 17. LwFD, they must portray a historically-correct woman's role, i.e. D.R.K. Nurse, Helferin or Blitzmädel--they may NOT portray a man.
Now, before we get inundated with letters from ambulance-chasin' ACLU-driven lawyers--remember, our purpose is historical accuracy, NOT modern "happy, happy, joy, joy feel-good" equality.
Please do not think that this is a flexible rule!
