  Legio XX (USA, MD) -- Matt Amt's unit--this is THE king-daddy of Roman Reenacting websites as Matt has posted his unit Handbook so all can learn! Not high-tech, so it loads quick!!
The Twentieth Legion was founded in 1991 to recreate the soldiers of the Roman Army for public demonstrations and living history displays. The weapons, armor, and accoutrements carried and used by members are all carefully researched, and reconstructed to extreme detail. The troops of Leg. XX demonstrate the tactics of the day, and the use of the legionary's various weapons. Leg. XX also has a civilian contingent which displays daily life in the ancient Roman world.

Century I, Cohors II, Legio III "Cyrenaica", Caesar's Conquerors, and the affiliated Auxilia, are Ancient Historical, Living History Impressionist Organizations representing the famous Legio III that was formed approximately 31BC and its accompanied Auxilia. Time periods represented cover the period from 31BC through 550AD. Our main emphasis is on the Flavian Period from approximately 66AD through 100AD.
This organization is designed for the enjoyment of it's membership as well as performing Historical Displays, Parades, Events and other gatherings, in order to represent Military and Civilian personas of the Ancient Roman Military and Civilian life, in an educational setting for ourselves, and others, in Historical Reenactments and Living History encampments and functions.

Legio IX HIspana USA -- Our main overall group that we are a chapter of.Legio IX Hispana Legio IX Hispana was founded in 1994, the date of our first event. We are the first Roman re-enactment club in Southern California and the largest Roman re-enactment club in North America.
We portray a company of soldiers, common Roman soldiers, support Auxilia and civilians, all doing the same time period, presenting a large cohesive display. We have no fancy titles or haughty officers. We are encamped in the northern part of Provincia Britannia, north of what will become the Hadrian's Wall public works project.
The best way to describe what we do is engendered in the phrase "experiential archaeology".

I consider this website to be one of the "Holy Trinity" of Roman Reenacting sites... How to edge your shield in brass, how-to MAKE Roman shoes, a good "carry" strap for a scutum... these are only a few of the things he offers.

 Legio XXII Primigenia, Cohort IV (USA, OH)--Legio XXII was founded in 1992 to recreate the soldiers of the Roman Army for public demonstrations, living history displays and historical events, such as period Trekking.
Their weapons, armor, and equipment are all carefully researched, and reconstructed at their own expense. Leg. XXII demonstrates the tactics of the day, and the use of the legionary's various weapons. Leg. XXII is available to discuss many aspects of Roman army life, and will sometimes spend a day or weekend living like their ancient counterparts did on campaign. Eventually, the Legion also aims to actually reenact against the enemies of Rome... a period fortification is even in the planning stages.
The recreated Legio XXII portrays soldiers from Germany in the mid-first century AD. They have based their clothing and equipment on contemporary illustrations and descriptions as well as on archeological evidence. While the group is based in the Cincinnati, Ohio area, it has members from a much broader area.

Legio VIIII Hispana, Cohort VIII (USA, TX) -- The Legio IX Hispana is dedicated to ancient reenactment and living history, especially Roman military and society in the early empire (mid - late 1st Century A.D.).
The Cohort VIII, based in Texas, is a member of Legio IX Hispana (LEG IX HSPA), the first Roman reenactment club in the Western US and the largest Roman reenactment club in North America.
We also participate in regional events with the Legio VIII Augusta, and the Texas Coritani, an Iron Age Living History group.

Legio VI Victrix (USA, So.CA)--Legio VI Victrix recreates a garrison camp near the Roman city of Eburacum (modern York) in the province of Britannia. Their members portray the foot soldiers and officers of the legion, as well as the civilian denizens of a Roman provincial city. Our time frame is AD 130-160, during the reigns of the Emperors Hadrian and Antoninus Pius.
Leg. VI strives to inform, educate, and entertain both ourselves and the public, and to have lots of fun along the way! Toward these goals, they take part in film and television productions, military timelines, historical faires and other special events, as well as give educational presentations throughout Southern California. To help stay fit, Leg. VI conducts marches in full kit once each month and also take part in "experimental archaeology" to help historians investigate how the Romans may have done things. Finally, they enjoy the special camaraderie of a shared fascination with this important historical epoch.

 Legio X Fretensis, Cohort IV (USA, NoCA) -- Located near Vallejo, California, Legio X is a great unit that has a very active schedule. Their time period is early 1st Century AD. Leg. X portrays a unit stationed in Judea, during the time of Christ and if you are interested in this time period, plus live in the bay area, then this unit might very well be for you! Give 'em a look -- nice people!

The Imperial Southern Provisional Army -- The ISPA is a loose organization of Roman Reenactors, Legions, Gladiators, Citizens, Auxila, and Enemies of Rome in the Southeastern United States. Its stated purpose is to facilitate cooperation and growth between its member units.
The ISPA does not collect dues or funds, and member units may be run as they please. Basic requirements for joining are three members in a group (though individuals are free to join our email list too!!), and meet our minimum authenticity standards.
ISPA units Sponsor several events annually including Castra Romana in South Carolina, Memorial Day Timeline in Georgia, and Lafe Encampment in Arkansas.

RomanArmyTalk Board (RAT) -- What can we say? THE place to be... actually there's SO much stuff there, it's hard to read it all. Especially if, like me, you just have a dial-up connection...You can EASILY lose yourself there and spend HOURS reading on the RAT board. A sore butt and burning eyes, so of course, we recommend it ;-)

Armamentarium -- ARMAMENTARIVM has the ultimate aim of providing a successor to H. Russell Robinson's seminal volume The Armour of Imperial Rome, published in 1975 and long out of print. As such, ARMAMENTARIVM will exploit the latest available technology to function as a dynamic book: it will be updated as and when new material becomes available and so will be as true a reflection as possible of the current state of scholarship on Roman military equipment.

  NOVA ROMA is an organization dedicated to the study and restoration of ancient Roman culture. From its legendary founding in -753 BC to AD 330, when it ceased to be the center of Imperial authority, Rome set the standard and laid the foundation for our modern Western Civilization. Rome civilized the world, and we see the need for that divine mission to be kept alive.
Founded 2,750 years after the Eternal City itself, NOVA ROMA seeks to bring back those golden times. But where our ancestors imposed their will through the sword and the legions, we intend the same result through the spread of knowledge and through our own virtuous example.
An integral part of the activities of NOVA ROMA is the Religio Romana, the ancient faith of the people of Rome. Both the household religion and the so-called state religion are vital to the Religio Romana, and both are represented in the practices of NOVA ROMA. Our long-term goal is the restoration of the ancient priestly Collegia and the honoring of the full cycle of Roman holidays throughout the year. For now, we must make do with a schedule that is practical and the training of individuals who wish to take up the sacred offices.
Also important for NOVA ROMA is the Via Romana, a general revival of all other aspects of Roman culture, from cookery to literature, philosophy and the arts. A core aspect of the Roman culture which NOVA ROMA endeavors to revive is what are known as the Roman Virtues. These virtues are what gave a small city on the banks of the Tiber the moral and practical strength to govern much of the world, and are most sorely lacking in our society today. Another aspect of the Roman culture in NOVA ROMA is the promotion of the Lingua Latina, the only language in which those virtues and that culture ever found their most authentic and universal expression. By promoting Roman culture, we are in effect promoting nothing less than the revitalization of Western society. By practicing Roman crafts and arts, we more fully understand our own Western roots.
NOVA ROMA is more than a historical recreation society, although we are that. We are more than a pagan religious organization, although we are that, too. We are more than a classical studies group, but that falls within our purview as well. We are nothing less than a sovereign nation; an attempt to re-create the best of classical pagan Rome (with a few compromises to modern times), and we invite you to join us by applying for citizenship today.
