Legio IX Hispana (USA, SoCA)--Legio IX Hispana was founded in 1994, the date of our first event. We are the first Roman re-enactment club in Southern California and the largest Roman re-enactment club in North America. We currently have Chapters in: Los Angeles, Orange County, Riverside, San Diego, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Washington, Northern California, Nebraska, Texas, Okinawa, England, and soon Camp Pendelton
We portray a company of soldiers, common Roman soldiers, support Auxilia and civilians, all doing the same time period, presenting a large cohesive display. We have no fancy titles or haughty officers. We are encamped in the northern part of Provincia Britannia, north of what will become the Hadrian's Wall public works project.
The best way to describe what we do is engendered in the phrase "experiential archaeology".

Florentius.com... a truly EXCELLENT reenactor website! Not only is it informational, but the webmaster shows his visitors how to make items of Roman kit. I consider this website to be one of the "Holy Trinity" of Roman Reenacting sites... Not just fluff, you will actually LEARN from this site, whether it is how to make shoes or something as mundane as a buckle! How to edge your shield in brass, how-to MAKE Roman shoes, a good "carry" strap for a scutum... these are only a few of the things he offers.

 Legio XX (USA, MD) -- Matt Amt's unit--this is THE king-daddy of Roman Reenacting websites as Matt has posted his unit Handbook so all can learn! Not high-tech, so it loads quick!!
The Twentieth Legion was founded in 1991 to recreate the soldiers of the Roman Army for public demonstrations and living history displays. The weapons, armor, and accoutrements carried and used by members are all carefully researched, and reconstructed to extreme detail. The troops of Leg. XX demonstrate the tactics of the day, and the use of the legionary's various weapons. Leg. XX also has a civilian contingent which displays daily life in the ancient Roman world.

Legio VI Victrix (USA, So.CA)--Legio VI Victrix recreates a garrison camp near the Roman city of Eburacum (modern York) in the province of Britannia. Their members portray the foot soldiers and officers of the legion, as well as the civilian denizens of a Roman provincial city. Our time frame is AD 130-160, during the reigns of the Emperors Hadrian and Antoninus Pius.
Leg. VI strives to inform, educate, and entertain both ourselves and the public, and to have lots of fun along the way! Toward these goals, they take part in film and television productions, military timelines, historical faires and other special events, as well as give educational presentations throughout Southern California. To help stay fit, Leg. VI conducts marches in full kit once each month and also take part in "experimental archaeology" to help historians investigate how the Romans may have done things. Finally, they enjoy the special camaraderie of a shared fascination with this important historical epoch.

 Legio X Fretensis, Cohort IV (USA, NoCA) -- Located near Vallejo, California, Legio X is a great unit that has a very active schedule. Their time period is early 1st Century AD. If you are interested in the Roman Army during the time of Christ, then this unit might very well be for you!

The Imperial Southern Provisional Army -- The ISPA is a loose organization of Roman Reenactors, Legions, Gladiators, Citizens, Auxila, and Enemies of Rome in the Southeastern United States. Its stated purpose is to facilitate cooperation and growth between its member units.
The ISPA does not collect dues or funds, and member units may be run as they please. Basic requirements for joining are three members in a group (though individuals are free to join our email list too!!), and meet our minimum authenticity standards.
ISPA units Sponsor several events annually including Castra Romana in South Carolina, Memorial Day Timeline in Georgia, and Lafe Encampment in Arkansas.

RomanArmyTalk Board (RAT) -- What can we say? THE place to be... actually there's SO much stuff there, it's hard to read it all. Especially if, like me, you just have a dial-up connection...You can EASILY lose yourself there and spend HOURS reading on the RAT board. A sore butt and burning eyes, so of course, we recommend it ;-)

Armamentarium -- ARMAMENTARIVM has the ultimate aim of providing a successor to H. Russell Robinson's seminal volume The Armour of Imperial Rome, published in 1975 and long out of print. As such, ARMAMENTARIVM will exploit the latest available technology to function as a dynamic book: it will be updated as and when new material becomes available and so will be as true a reflection as possible of the current state of scholarship on Roman military equipment.

The Venetian Cat Pottery Studio -- An auxiliary member of Legio III Cyrenaica who reproduces Ancient Roman pottery, especially Samianware/Terra Sigillata as well as amphorae and other utilitarian items (oil lamps, flasks, etc.) that a Roman reenactor may find useful.
