Women at War 1939-45 (Men-at-Arms 100)--Author: Jack Cassin-Scott, Illustrator: Angus McBride. 48 pages; ISBN: 0850453496. Text by Jack Cassin-Scott, Colour Plates by Angus McBride. Images of warrior women come down to us from most ancient mythologies. Nevertheless, for centuries fighting was primarily a man's job and this only begun to change in World War I. By World War II women were playing a major auxiliary role in all Europe's armed forces.--Due to popular demand, strictly limited quantities of Osprey's most wanted out of print Men-at-Arms, Vanguard and Elite titles are back in stock. --Many of these books have been out of print for 5 years or more, so don't miss this one-off opportunity to buy them hot-off-the-press at regular series prices while stocks last. World War II Allied Women's Services (Men-at-Arms 357)--Author: Martin Brayley, Illustrator: Ramiro Bujeiro. 48 pages; ISBN: 1841760536. Women made a huge contribution to the Allied armed services in World War II, serving in hundreds of thousands all over the world. They not only freed men for combat service, but performed duties which took them into harm's way. Servicewomen manned anti-aircraft batteries, worked on heavily-bombed air stations , drove every kind of transport, repaired and maintained combat aircraft, and even went to sea as cypher experts. This important reference to the uniforms of the British, Commonwealth and US women's services will be followed by a further MAA title on the Allied nursing services.
