INFANTRY (ETO) Authenticity and Uniform Standards
(exclusive of Airborne
or Mechanized Units)
Uniforms
Standard wool or wool flannel combat shirt; khaki or mustard. With or without
gas flaps.
Standard wool trousers; khaki or mustard. No M51 wool trousers
Open face belt; green or tan khaki.
Short bill HBT fatigue cover, M43 fatigue cover or jeep cap.
M1 helmet, with or without netting; no camouflage covers. Canvas or elastic
helmet band. No metal clips on chin straps.
Leggings, green khaki with brown ankle boots with or without toe cap.
Double buckle boots.
M41 or M43 field jacket with or without divisional patches.
Scarf.
5 button or V-neck wool sweaters (with correct small buttons)
or wool "dickie". Red Cross supplied civilian sweaters. (They
have a Red Cross tag)
Green / white / brown crew neck T shirt or green / tan / white khaki "tank
top" T shirt.
M41 or M42 HBTs without rank or divisional insignia.
Field Gear
NO 1944/45 pattern field gear system except "jungle" first
aid pack. (If an individual wishes to wear M44/M45 field gear
they must wear the complete issue not bits & pieces but this should be
reserved to units portraying those who were historically issued such gear
in the ETO for trial)
M1923 ammunition belt in green khaki or M1910 brown khaki. OD #7 for 1945
impression only.
M1910, M1924 or M1942 first aid pouch.
M1910 canteen, cup and cover. OD green is acceptable.
M1910 "T" handle shovel with cover or M1943 folding shovel with
cover.
M1928 backpack with meat can pouch & mess kit or M1910 pattern dyed
green khaki.
"Jungle" backpack may be used for Italian based scenarios ONLY.
M1903/42 Springfield pattern bayonet and scabbard.
M1936 mussete bag, shoulder strap in green khaki. Officers only.
M1936 brown or green khaki combat suspenders. OD green acceptable if '43
or later dated.
M3 combat knife with leather scabbard or M8A1 plastic scabbard (no
metal tip).
Weapons
Infantryman: M1 Garand or M1 carbine
(without bayonet lug) with leather or khaki sling.
Officers or NCOs: M1 carbine (without
bayonet lug) or M1903 Springfield (officer only).
M1 Thompsons or M3 "grease guns" by officers
or AFV crews.
M1918A1 BARs.
M1917, M1917A1 or M1919 30 caliber machine guns with tripod or assault version
1919A6.
M1911 pistol with brown leather holster (officers, senior
NCOs, weapons & vehicle crews)
