146th Anniversary, Battle of Waynesborough, April 1-3, 2011

(1/1)

Captain Lewis:
Just ask anyone who was here last time and they will tell you this is a great little event !
Hosted by the Battle of Waynesborough Committee, this event is put on by reenactors, and it shows.
The 1865 battle of Waynesborough, Va, pitted Custer's cavalry against Early's entrenched infantry as it made an attempt to leave the Shenandoah Valley to connect with the Army of Northern Virginia. The original site is now part of the City of Waynesboro, but the site used for the battle features the same terrain Custer faced that day in March.
This year we will be adding shallow trenches to the already spectacular scenario. If you are a Confederate who has never had the thrill of being charged on by Yankee cavalry, you need to be here !
Registration is still the family-friendly $5 per adult (children under 12 are FREE). Friday morning will feature a School Day for the local students. So, if you want to show and tell come early and help out.
Early Registration deadline is March 1, 2011. After that, it's $10 per participant. All branches needed and galvanizing cavalry is encouraged. But rest assured, everyone who comes will have a role to play !
