Title: Stealing ideas from the Renfair crowd
Post by: groomporter on October 25, 2008, 01:29:54 PM
I wasn't sure where to put this, but it's something I've been thinking about off and on for a while. There's a couple online areas where Renfairs are far ahead of reenactors and I wondered if it might be worth stealing the concepts.

Musical groups. There are a couple podcasts that promote Renfair music online.
There's RenRadio http://www.renradio.org/ Music from Renaissance fairs around the US.

Renaissance Festival Podcast http://www.renaissancefestivalmusic.com/
Twice monthly music and entertainment from Renaissance festivals with Celtic music, Irish folk music, Scottish bagpipes, English folk, Gypsy music, Renaissance music, and comedy from groups performing at Renfairs.

Photo sharing. Sure, there free photo sharing sites like flickr and photobucket, but what about a centralized one for reenactors like the Renfaire photo site at http://rensites.com/main.php

I''ve wondered if there would be interest if someone did similar sites for the historical reenactment end of things.

I've got some podcast software, but no time to make it happen right now 0| As to photos, we have the photo gallery (http://www.reenactor.net/index.php?action=gallery) here. Is it too hard to use? I have a hard time gauging whether non-web people are able to use such things easily--what I find not-so-hard, many of them freak out over... yoy

Yeah I'ld try the podcast myself if I didn't have the small business to keep going. I forgot about the gallery here, I'll mention it around some more.
