Old Bedford Village--THE 1940s WEEKEND
« on: July 28, 2008, 11:12:12 AM »
I'm going to Old Bedford Village next weekend for their 1940's Weekend. Of course, the fact that it's close to me (46 miles) helps, but more than that, I would like to see a lot of my WWII Kameraden I haven't seen in years!!!

Here's what's on the OBV website:

THE 1940s WEEKEND
Come take a look at life in the 1940s during WW2. Reenactors from Allied and Axis powers, military vehicles, extensive home front display. Tactical demonstration both days. An amazing event for those interested in the period.

To help a site get more funds even after they (in the past that is) charged $3,000 to hold an event there? Could be wrong on the price but was told that by someone who use to run them there about 3-4 years ago. Nice place to play for a small scenerio but not worth that much to rent.

they do in fact charge $3,000 for the weekend. GD holds an event there in November in which they charge $30 per person and get about 150-200 to show up. thats $4,500 - $6,000. if you can get the numbers for the event then $3,000 isnt all that much considering you don't have much expenses for the event, besides the excellent thanksgiving style dinner and a great party on saturday. besides that, you get a nice place to sleep instead of being eaten by mosquitoes or the rain and cold beating you up.

i won't be going because its too far for something like that. the dates for the november tactical have been released though, anybody going?

Nope, going to go to an immersion event that month with the 4thSS. Hurts but will be getting Haydenville for a taste of East Front in October.

We did have some good times there when the 45th I.D. was the host for the winter battles. Man sleeping in the houses was colder then sleeping outside.
Wish we could find another village museum to do a Summer battle event. Mumford ,NY would be a excellent village battle, place is HUGE. Also hale Farm and village in Ohio would be a great one. The girls were a great time who ran the place. So happy to be single again.
