Hello! My primary interest/hobby/passion is WWI British medal collecting - specifically, medals awarded to Canadian Engineers. However, for the last two years, I have also been collecting the pieces I need to put together a Canadian Engineer?s uniform.
I currently have most of the metal pieces I will need (Canadian Engineer buttons, cap badge, and ?Canada? shoulder titles) ? I don?t think the guy I will be reenacting as (Sapper Ernest Christopher Dennison) wore collar insignias because he never left the Canadian Engineer Training Depot in Seaforth, England. I could be wrong about this, but he does not have any in the picture I have of him.
Anyways, my biggest question right now concerns the best place to go reproduction uniforms. I don?t want to spend an arm and a leg, but I want a good quality one that looks as real as possible. Any suggestions?
Also, the cap badge and shoulder titles have lugs, but none of the reproduction uniforms caps or tunics I have found have the corresponding lug holes in them ? how do you all deal with this? If I bring my uniform to a tailor or seamstress can they help me with this? Do I need to find a special one that has experience with WWI uniforms?
All help is much appreciated. Thank you so much!
