WILD WEST AT USHERS FERRY!

Looking for a little old fashioned fun? Well, grab your Stetsons, saddle Old Paint and jingle your spurs on down to Seminole Valley on the weekend of June 28 & 29, 2008  from 11-5 p.m. when Willi's Territorial Rough Riders brings you the ninth annual Wild West Weekend at Ushers Ferry Historic Village.

There will be gamblers, gunslingers, saloon girls, cowboys, horses, and gunfights galore. The morning will kick off with an entertaining look at how Hollywood's version of the Wild West is often a far cry from the way things really happened. The Earps and Clantons will return to shoot it out at the OK corral, and rumor has it that the James Gang will be looking for a few banks to rob on their way through town.

Though the gunfights are the highlight of the weekend, there will be plenty for everyone to do while waiting for the smoke to clear. This year Ushers Ferry is fortunate enough to have the Professor B.T. Farquar Great American Medicine Show  grace the streets of Ushers Ferry as they perform historical narratives and ballads as well as astounding demonstrations of Sharp Shooting, Card Manipulation, Chicanery and Old-time Flim-flam. Each day features some of our favorite old-fashioned family games such as the straw hunts and sack races. The Kishwaukee Valley Vigilance Committee out of Rockford, IL. will be on hand to give children tips on what it takes to be a cowboy. The little cowpokes may also want to dig out their spurs, six shooters to help us round up some of Ushers Ferry's most notorious outlaws during the Bounty Hunt at 4:00 PM each day. For those looking to satisfy their sweet tooth, the Ushers Ferry Ladies Aid Society Pie auction will be held Saturday at 1:00 PM.
