I'm in Southern California. My problem is a lot of groups won't take me because I'm 12 years old, and I just want to educate, not fight so much.
Alas, NO ONE will take you at that age. WWI, unlike CW, is just not safe enough for young folks -- you have to be 18. Hey, look at it this way, it'll take you awhile to build your kit... use that time to get a kick-ass, solid, perfect kit together.

Sehr Ausgezeichnett!  Marsch, do you have the websites listed on this forum?  I can see the one 1./Kompagnie Infanterie-Regimant 23 (1./J.R. 23), and I'll try them... Vielen Dank Kamerad!

Thought I'd add a couple of links here... on reenactor.Net I have an overall WWI Parent Organization page... plus, I have recently worked on the German page (yes, I know... "Get after the other one's you worthless bastard!")

So, try them... if you're in a unit now, why not post a link and some text about it on the Forum here?

Unfortunately, our insurance won't permit it. Unlike other time periods, WWI just doesn't lend itself to this sort of thing.

Update:
GWHS has slowly started to pull itself from the depths. In fact there was an event this past Feb and April. Although small, there was events none the less. There is another event planned for November at a new site which has been primarily used for WW2 battles. There are trenches dug and the GWHS is looking for troops! Due to finances I personally cannot attend and can really only do one time period these days. If that changes though I will get the Marines up and running again.

Updated the IR23 website some more. Kind of a constant thing. Just something I do, like updating our unit Handbuch which comes in close to 500 pages if you read all the extra stuff. It's made for "bathroom reading" vs. study. Hobbies should be fun.
